North Rhyl Inn - 8th September 2005
Tonight Carl goes out of the north west and into Wales not knowing what to expect. But when he arrives he is pleased with the venue and the people are friendly. Get the pints in.
Carl goes on stage for the first of two 30 minutes sets, which I`m waiting to see how he handles each set and how he delivers the new songs that he has promised us. Carl starts with Blurred Vision, then Don`t Bring Me Down. The reason why I like these being played now is because he always used to end his sets with them, which shows how much he has improved with his organisation. Next up is My Love,a two minute song, which has the influnces of Weller. I can`t Watch Over You anymore shows a different direction for Carl which has taken his set into a new dimension. When Tears Fall Down On Me,Now The Tide Has Moved In are next. The first is a crowd favourite As the song comes to an end and he sings `When Tears Fall Down On Me`unaccompanied, you realise later its in your mind. Why I'm I misunderstood is about a frustration in your life that Isn`t worth the hassle. Why Can I See More Than You has a good riff in the chorus, with the verses being build up with a muted guitar sound. Thirsty work Carl says down the mike. He plays three more songs. Ending on Until I Shoot My Gun,a fast paced,Stones inspired Song.It may have been raining in Rhyl but Carl was worth coming out to see.
